Sample singles draw
How the draw works
- Players are seeded by skill rating. The number in brackets, like [1], is the seed. The top seeds are placed so they can't meet until the late rounds.
- Win your match and you move to the next round. Lose and you are out of the main draw (some tournaments add a consolation draw, for players who lose their first match, or for anyone knocked out in the early rounds).
- You arrange each match with your opponent and play wherever you both agree. Every round has a finish-by date.
- Either side posts the score. A ✓ marks the winner. Each number is one set; a small raised number is the tiebreak score, and a number in square brackets is a match tiebreak played instead of a third set.
- A posted score shows Awaiting opponent confirmation until the opponent confirms it, or it auto-confirms 12 hours later.
